I completed it at college with coursework and nursery placements.

Why did you decide on a career in childcare?

To imitate the role models of my childhood and make a difference to children’s lives.

Have you always worked in childcare?

Yes, since I was 17.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Watching the children grow and develop as you provide learning opportunities and life experiences. Words can’t describe when a child says your
name after you have worked hard to promote their communication. As job satisfaction goes it’s pretty awesome.

What is the hardest part of working with children?

Previously the paperwork was a lot to handle but thanks to modern technology that is a thing of the past now with digital Learning Journeys.

What keeps you working in childcare?

Knowing that everything I do is impacting the lives of the children and their families in my care in a positive way. You really can make a difference in this job.

Why do you enjoy working for Childbase?

The career opportunities that just aren’t available anywhere such as the Partnership Councillor role.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in childcare?

Be prepared to work hard and be rewarded well for it.
