How did you get your early years qualification?

I completed a level 2 and 3 on the job apprenticeship.

Why did you decide on a career in childcare?

Since the age of 5 I have always wanted to be a teacher. After studying my A levels I decided I wanted to work with younger children and began working in a nursery. I enjoy watching children grow and develop and being the person who has helped them grow in their first years.

Have you always worked in childcare?

I have worked in childcare for 10 years.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I work in the baby room and it’s amazing to watch them grow from babies to children ready to go to school. I enjoy how every day is different and developing bonds with children and watching them develop personalities.

What is the hardest part of working with children?

Watching children leave to go to school, and when they leave your room and make transitions, as you often form such strong bonds.

What keeps you working in childcare?

Knowing that I am making a difference and I play a part in the child being the child they have grown into. Knowing that I am teaching children new things every day.
