‘Sun Awareness Week’ at Field House Day Nursery

Children from Field House Day Nursery in Buckingham are marking ‘Sun Awareness Week’ with a series of activities to help them stay safe in high temperatures.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Tingewick Road, pre-schoolers wore their Childbase Partnership sun hats and brainstormed all the ways of effectively staying protected whilst enjoying the warm weather.

The group then put their new knowledge to the test by preparing a toy doll for a day out in the sunshine with the relevant protection, including sun cream and water bottle.

Field House Nursery Practitioner, Lucy Piosek explained;

“We like to encourage outdoor play as much as possible when the weather is nice, but this means taking precautions to stay safe. The children have had a great time contributing their ideas and putting them into practice, now we just need some sun.”

‘Sun Awareness Week’ is a wellbeing event organised by the British Association of Dermatologists and runs between 6th and 12th May.
