Prestigious Silver Award for Bedford Day Nursery
Lavenders Day Nursery has won a prestigious Silver Eco-Schools award for their efforts to be environmentally friendly.
The Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Bushmead Avenue already held a bronze award and is thrilled to have achieved Silver. To qualify to for the award, the nursery had to undertake a series of environmental projects demonstrating their commitment to making long term, sustainable differences.
The children have been involved in initiatives including installing a bug hotel, new vegetable patch which is watered from the children’s water bottle leftovers at the end of the day. The nursery also recycles the majority of their rubbish and proactively manages their food waste and electricity use.
Lavenders Manager Julian Di ‘Niro said:
“We are proud to have achieved an Eco-Schools Silver Award at Lavenders. As a nursery, we want to teach children to respect the environment and the world around them. Green initiatives which get the children involved from a young age helps to embed this learning which they will hopefully keep with them for life.”
