Mental Health Awareness Week at Maples Day Nursery

Colleagues from Maples Day Nursery in Winchester are marking Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK with a series of wellbeing activities.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Hatherley Road, practitioners have created their very own mood trackers which help to manage the stresses of everyday life, as well as being provided with a number of resources such as wellbeing quizzes and mental health fact sheets which aim to deliver a better understanding of conditions and reduce stigmatization.

Maples Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Lou Rowe explained;

“We mark Mental Health Awareness Week every year at Maples as it is such an important subject, but have put extra emphasis on the event this year due to the anxiety surrounding coronavirus. We are so proud of the way our colleagues have navigated the situation and have made small gestures throughout the week such as treats in the staff room to say thank you.”

Last year, Maples Day Nursery raised a total of £3,568.25 for leading mental health charity ‘Mind’ through fundraising activities such as a dress up days and a sleep rough night in order to support the valuable work they do.

Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from 18-24 May 2020. This year’s theme is kindness.
