Maples Day Nursery children create gifts for NHS workers

Thoughtful children from Maples Day Nursery in Winchester have been working hard to create a thank you box of gifts for the heroic NHS staff working on the frontline to help treat coronavirus patients.

Complete with handmade cards, chocolate, protective gloves and aprons, children from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Hatherley Road gifted the box to the dedicated staff at Winchester Hospital, whilst also learning more about their important roles back in the classroom.

Maples Day Nursery Third in Charge, Danni Markwick explained;

“We wanted to make a gesture to the hardworking hospital staff to let them know how grateful we are for their services all year round, but particularly at this difficult time. Many of the children still attending Maples have parents who are working for the NHS, so this is particularly poignant for them too.”

“We received a message from one of the doctors explaining that the staff were blown away by the children’s cards, which is absolutely lovely to hear.”
