‘Lush’ day out for Knowle Green Day Nursery children
Young environmental enthusiasts from Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines were delighted to visit Lush’s London Waterloo store to donate a supply of bottle lids they had been collecting as part of the cosmetic company’s recycling scheme.
As part of the brand’s commitment to helping the planet, Lush collect recycled bottle tops which are then transformed into boards to make an array of waterproof furniture, including playgrounds for children, which have been collected by pre-schoolers from the day nursery in Knowle Green to align with their own Eco-Schools curriculum.
Knowle Green was recently awarded a prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award, the highest accreditation in the internationally recognised Eco-Schools scheme for their exceptional environmental awareness and conservation efforts, which include growing vegetables, creating animal habitats and recycling wherever possible.
Knowle Green Day Nursery Team Leader, Hannah Willis explained;
“We love the work that Lush do in regards to the bottle top initiative, and plan to carry on collecting for them going forward. The employees were so impressed with the amount that the children had collected that they gave us a whole box of complimentary bath bombs. We are very excited to use these for experiments and messy play in nursery, all whilst knowing we have done something worthwhile to help the planet.”
