Lavenders Day Nursery celebrate Colonel Tom Moore

In order to commemorate his milestone one hundredth birthday, children, parents and practitioners from Lavenders Day Nursery in Bedford are creating a book of celebration for local fundraising hero, Colonel Tom Moore, which looks back at events of the past century.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Bushmead Avenue, families have been compiling photographs, news cuttings, artwork and more from the last hundred years to document the notable events that have taken place throughout the war veterans lifetime.

The former army Captain, who has now raised over £31 million for the NHS, was given the title of honorary Colonel on his one hundredth birthday after his extraordinary fundraising venture, which saw him complete 100 laps of the garden at his Bedfordshire home.

Lavenders Day Nursery Manager, Juliana Di ‘Niro explained;

“The children have been so excited to create this book for Colonel Tom after seeing his amazing fundraising efforts and especially as he lives so close by. I especially love this story as my own grandfather was a WWII Sergeant, who passed away a few years ago aged 97. We would like to personally thank Tom, and wish him a very Happy Birthday from us all.”
