Grasshoppers Day Nursery children promote environmental awareness

A poster project has inspired children from Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans to create a stunning array of environmental themed visuals for their classroom.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in York Road, pre-schoolers used the posters to proudly display important messages regarding recycling, saving water, preventing pollution, growing vegetables and more, following on from their involvement with the internationally recognised ‘Eco-Schools’ project.

Grasshoppers Day Nursery currently hold a ‘Bronze’ award in the scheme which recognises exceptional environmental awareness and conservation efforts, and are working their way towards the top ‘Green Flag’ accreditation, which is held by a total of 15 Childbase Partnership settings.

Grasshoppers Day Nursery Team Leader, Jodie Smart explained;

“The children have a great deal of care and respect for the environment which is lovely to see and this was clearly demonstrated through the brilliant posters created. Over the past few weeks we have also created bug houses to encourage biodiversity in the garden and discussed why caring for the planet is so important.”
