Ducks get a quacking new home at Knowle Green Day Nursery

Delighted children from Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines are welcoming four new additions to the setting in the form of ducks.

Since waving goodbye to the chicks that were looked after at Easter to learn about life cycles, children from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Knowle Green put forward the idea of getting ducks as permanent pets during a pre-school council meeting. After discussing why the animals would be a good addition, the idea was approved.

Puddles, Dexter, Beaky and Donald are now happily settling in to life at the nursery and have even been built their own incredible house and enclosure by gardener and handyman, Noel. The ducks will stay there for another week, before being able to freely roam around the multiple age-appropriate gardens.

Knowle Green Day Nursery Team Leader, Hannah Willis explained;

“The ducks have been a brilliant addition to the nursery and the children have been so excited to name them and start caring for them. We have already registered them to the vets and shown the children that this is an important factor in caring for an animal. We can’t wait for all the new learning experiences they will bring and the memories that will be made with them.”
