Diwali celebrations at Cedar Park Day Nursery
In celebration of the Hindu festival of Diwali, children from Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford have been creating traditional handmade treats to enjoy at mealtimes.
After devising a shopping list, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Bridge Farm Road visited their local supermarket with practitioners, where they purchased ingredients to make onion bhajis in time for the ‘Festival of Lights’.
Once prepared, the children enjoyed the snacks whilst learning more about the festival and what it means to millions of Hindus around the world.
Cedar Park Day Nursery Manager, Emma Kemp explained;
“We mark a range of different cultural and religious events throughout the year to give the children a broad understanding of the world around them, whilst also celebrating diversity in our local community. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating Diwali, and this also provided the chance to develop our culinary skills.”
