Collecting shoes for the homeless at Windmill Hill Day Nursery

Windmill Hill Day Nursery has partnered with Blaylocks Shoes of Swindon in order to provide local homeless people with footwear during the colder winter months.

At the day nursery on Windmill Business Park, Whitehill Way, generous donations are being collected from parents and practitioners, which will then be passed on to the family-run shoe shop for cleaning,  polishing, resoling and re-lacing, before being donated and distributed to local homeless shelters for use by those in need.

Mark Blaylock, Manager of Blaylocks Shoes of Swindon recently visited the nursery to talk to children about his role, as well as introducing basic mathematical concepts by showing the pre-schoolers measuring and tailoring tools and processes.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Manager, Lora Worthington explained;

“We are delighted to be working alongside Blaylocks to provide vulnerable people with shoes at this time of the year. The children also had a brilliant time learning more from Mark, who kindly took time out of his busy schedule to come and visit us.”
