Chinese New Year inspired ZooLab at Windmill Hill Day Nursery

Delighted children from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon are marking the Chinese New Year with a special visit from a range of exotic ZooLab creatures.

Celebrating the ‘Year of the Rat’, pre-schoolers from the day nursery on Windmill Business Park, Whitehill Way were thrilled to meet an array of traditional zodiac animals, including a snake and a bearded dragon, whilst learning the backstory of the ‘Jade Emperor’ who selected the twelve creatures to be his guards.

As well as being able to hold and stroke the animals, the children took part in a selection of themed activities to mark the event, including creating noodles, drawing the zodiac creatures and making a stir-fry with the help of practitioners.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Manager, Lora Worthington explained;

“We had a brilliant time celebrating Chinese New Year and learning more about the history of the zodiac. Visits from the ZooLab also provide children with the opportunity to meet and learn about creatures they wouldn’t usually see in everyday life, as well as teaching the responsibility that comes with owning a pet.”
