Charity fundraising at Devonshire Day Nursery
After being set the company-wide challenge of incorporating the number ‘20’ into fundraising activities throughout October to represent the calendar year, children and colleagues from Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick were delighted to exceed the £400 mark just halfway through, whilst raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bennett Street, sponsored activities with the children have included making 20 cupcakes and a 20 lap relay in the garden outside, whilst multiple Devonshire colleagues are pledging 20,000 steps per day, whilst making sacrifices such as going without chocolate for 20 days too.
The setting has also played host to a pink, white and blue themed dress up day as part of the fundraising festivities, which represented the Cancer Research colours.
Devonshire Day Nursery Business Administrator, Erica Lee explained;
“We have been having a brilliant time finding creative ways to incorporate the number 20 into our fundraising and can’t wait to see what the rest of the month will bring. We are absolutely delighted to have already surpassed the £400 mark thanks to generous donations from nursery families with two weeks still left to go, especially as the charity needs our help now more than ever.”
Devonshire Day Nursery has adopted Cancer Research UK for a year-long fundraising drive, which will extend to the end of 2021 due to Covid-19. The charity, which funds nearly half of all the cancer research in the UK, is facing a predicted loss of 20 – 25% of fundraising income due to the pandemic.
