How long have you worked for Childbase?

2 years.

Have you always worked in childcare?

I have been working in childcare since 2010.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love this job because I get to make a difference to children every single day. The feeling of watching a child achieve something that you’ve taught them and then be so proud of that is the greatest reward I can think of. I feel lucky to be trusted by parents to care for and teach their children. I’m not just a practitioner, I am the big bad wolf, a builder, a fire fighter, a wizard, the list is endless just like the children’s imagination.

What is the hardest part of working with children?

The multiple demands and roles you need to undertake at the same time. Even the most difficult days are lifted by a smile or an action from a child and no two days are the same.

What keeps you working in childcare?

I am blessed to have a career in which I am active and can use every skill that I have (and more importantly the ones I enjoy) every day.

Why do you enjoy working for Childbase?

Childbase are a great company to work for as they offer in my opinion unrivalled support and opportunities to their employees. We are all partners in the company and we all have a say. As a company we also want everyone to grow as an individual and tailor your training for that. Like me, for example, I love to be outside this has been noticed and I have been placed onto Forest Schools training and I am now on my way to becoming a Forest Schools Leader.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in childcare?

This job is truly fantastic and I would urge anyone male or female to consider it. Come and visit a setting, get involved and be enthusiastic.

I love this job because I get to make a difference to children every single day.
