Swindon childcare workers celebrate company takeover

Staff at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon weren’t the only ones celebrating their company takeover as children were treated to a visit by the local ice cream man as part of celebrations marking National Employee Ownership Day.

Freshly made whipped ice creams are just the latest in a series of celebrations for staff at the day nursery in in Whitehill Way on the Windmill Business Park, who became owners of the award-winning Childbase Partnership, which has 41 day nurseries in the South of England, last year.

As Windmill Hill, Lora Worthington, explained colleagues were still on a ‘high’ following the move from individual share ownership of the company to a Trust Board which benefits all 1,800 plus employees.

“As owners, every employee has a voice, a role in the decision-making process and a share of the profits, so we are all personally invested in giving our children the best possible nursery experience and today that includes delicious ice cream and even more fun in the garden,” she said.
